Evans suffers drive shaft scare as battle for the lead intensifies

Elfyn Evans suffers a drive shaft scare on the final stage of day two on the 138.com Rally Isle Of Man. The Welshman with Craig Parry sat alongside had a healthy lead, which was built-up over the days opening nine stages. Drama struck the DMACK-backed crew on the tenth and final test as drive shaft failure put the Ford Fiesta R5 into three-wheel-drive mood. Limping out of the stage Elfyn and Craig looked to have lost their lead.

The organisers suffered timing issues this evening and at present the lead of the rally is unknown.

Multiple British Rally Champion Mark Higgins with Darren Garrod sat alongside could be leading the event after Evans’ failure.

Desi Henry and Tom Cave are enjoying an event long battle in the race for the final spots on the BRC podium.

It’s all to play for as the Rally Isle Of Man goes into its final day.
